Trey Wheeler, a 19-year-old resident of Tyler, was taken into custody on Saturday night in connection with a shooting incident at a College Station nightclub. The arrest followed a report to the College Station Police Department that a shot had been discharged inside the establishment located in the 100 block of College Main Street.
Upon arrival, officers pushed through the crowd to enter the venue and locate the suspect. Police stated that Wheeler was detained immediately, and a firearm was recovered from his waistband. Subsequent investigation indicated that Wheeler possessed a second gun inside the club, which had been misplaced before the shot was fired. Both weapons were seized as evidence for the case.
Wheeler faces multiple charges stemming from the incident. These include public intoxication, two counts of unlawfully carrying a weapon, and two counts of unlawfully carrying a weapon in a prohibited place. He is also charged with deadly conduct, disorderly conduct, failure to identify himself, and providing false information to authorities.
According to the police department, no injuries were reported as a result of the event. Wheeler has been booked into the Brazos County Jail. Officials described the matter as an ongoing investigation and noted that additional details will be shared as they become available.
