Joe Milton showcased his skills in a strong performance, leading the Dallas Cowboys to a 34-13 victory against the Arizona Cardinals. Milton completed 9 passes out of 13 attempts for a total of 176 yards, featuring a 53-yard touchdown pass to Jonathan Mingo and a 70-yard completion to Camden Brown, which set up his own rushing touchdown from 1 yard out.

The competition for the backup quarterback position remains intense as he vies for the No. 2 role behind Dak Prescott.

The Cowboys established a commanding 24-6 lead by halftime, with Jaydon Blue contributing significantly with 75 rushing yards on 15 carries. Sam Howell, who started all games for Washington in 2023, managed to complete 7 of 10 passes for 65 yards in the second half but was intercepted in the end zone.

Coach Brian Schottenheimer praised Milton's ability to control the pace and accuracy of his throws, while also noting that the battle for the backup position is ongoing. Defensively, the Cowboys made an impact early in the game, highlighted by cornerback Shavon Revel's interception of a pass from Gardner Minshew, leading to an early touchdown.

The Cardinals faced their own difficulties, including two touchdowns being nullified by penalties on receiver Rivaldo Fairweather. Coach Mike LaFleur remarked on the team's overall struggles during the week. Additionally, injuries were a concern, with Cardinals safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson leaving due to rib issues and Cowboys safety Julius Wood exiting with a concussion in the third quarter.

Milton's performance adds to his credentials as he continues to compete for a place on the Cowboys' roster.
