Tayven Jackson Takes the Helm as Starting QB for North Texas Ahead of Opener

Tayven Jackson has been designated as the starting quarterback for the North Texas Mean Green in their upcoming season opener against Indiana University on September 5, 2026. Jackson, who has a diverse college football background, previously played for the Hoosiers.

During his time at Indiana, he participated in 13 games in the 2023-24 season, completing 61.2% of his passes with six touchdowns and six interceptions.

After a brief stint at Tennessee in 2022, he transferred to the University of Central Florida in 2025, where he achieved a completion rate of 63.5% and threw for 2,151 yards, contributing ten touchdowns and eight interceptions to the Knights' 5-7 record.

Before entering college football, Jackson excelled at Center Grove High School, throwing for 4,813 yards and 47 touchdowns from 2018 to 2021, leading his team to an undefeated Class 6A championship. He is also the brother of Trayce Jackson-Davis, the 2019 Indiana Mr. Basketball, who currently plays for the Toronto Raptors.

The game between North Texas and Indiana is set to kick off at noon and will be available on Fox.
