Texas Tech has completed its non-conference football slate for the 2030 season by securing a home game against Texas State. The Red Raiders will host the Bobcats on Sept. 14, 2030, as detailed in a contract obtained via an open-records request and reported by FBSchedules.com.
Under the terms of this deal, the university is required to pay a game guarantee of $1.2 million to the visiting team.
This addition follows other scheduled events for that year, including an Aug. 31 season opener against Arkansas in Las Vegas and a home game against Fresno State one week before the Texas State contest. While the 2030 schedule is now full, the program still needs to find one non-conference opponent each for 2027, 2028, and 2029.
These vacancies resulted from recent contract changes, such as Mississippi State canceling a two-game series due to SEC scheduling model shifts, North Carolina State buying out a 2027 Lubbock game, and Texas Tech terminating a 2027 road trip to North Texas.
Currently, the Red Raiders have two non-conference home games set for each of the years 2027 through 2029. Financial guarantees for these upcoming matchups vary between $300,000 and $1 million based on the opponent and location.
