During his time with the Cowboys, Blue faced challenges related to maturity that hindered his chances in his rookie year. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer noted that Blue's return to the practice squad was unlikely, further confirming his exit.
In a related development, the Cowboys have added Emari Demercado, who previously excelled with the Arizona Cardinals, to strengthen their running back lineup. Standing at 5 feet 11 inches and weighing 215 pounds, Demercado showcased his versatility and experience, averaging 6.5 yards per carry in Arizona. His performance drew the attention of Cowboys offensive coordinator Klayton Adams, who had coached him during his rookie season.
Demercado improved his average to 9.3 yards per carry in 2024, accumulating 819 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 126 carries over three seasons with the Cardinals. Currently, the Cowboys' running back roster includes Malik Davis as the second option and Hunter Luepke as a fullback. Israel Abanikanda has been recalled to the practice squad, while the status of second-year back Phil Mafah is unclear.
