The Houston Cougars have enhanced their defensive lineup by signing safety Myles Rowser, who previously played for the Arizona State Sun Devils. This move comes in light of new NCAA eligibility rules that allow players from the class of 2022, who did not redshirt or sign a professional NFL contract, to gain an additional season of eligibility.
Rowser, who did not redshirt during his freshman year, participated in nine games for the Campbell Camels. He attended a rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks but did not sign with any professional team. His collegiate career has included time at Campbell in 2022, New Mexico State in 2023, and Arizona State from 2024 to 2025.
Over his career, Rowser has accumulated 295 total tackles, which includes 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, 16 passes defended, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. In the 2025 season, he played in all games for Arizona State, achieving a career-high 84 tackles and earning a spot on the All-Big 12 Third Team.
The Cougars already have a strong safety position, featuring Kentrell Webb and Jordan Allen, who had 71 and 48 tackles respectively last season. They have also added Tulane safety Javion White, who made 50 tackles last year. Rowser's addition may lead to adjustments in the lineup, possibly moving one of the safeties to the nickel corner position, enhancing the team's competitiveness in the Big 12.
