TCU has dismissed safety Jacob Fields from its football roster after a locker room incident. This decision comes shortly before the team's season opener against North Carolina. The altercation, which occurred on August 13, was logged as an aggravated assault in the TCU crime and fire log.

Reports indicate that Fields was engaged in a physical confrontation with an offensive teammate. Sources suggest that Fields had previously felt targeted by teammates, experiencing insults and threats, including being spat on. Despite reaching out to the coaching staff multiple times about the rising tensions, he did not receive any response.

Fields joined TCU from Louisiana Tech this offseason and was anticipated to be the starting free safety. In 2025, he was honored as the Co-Defensive Player of the Year in Conference USA, having played all 12 games for Louisiana Tech. He led his former team with 92 tackles and achieved three interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns.

Additionally, he recorded 2.5 tackles for loss and five pass breakups last season. Further information regarding the incident and its consequences has not yet been disclosed.
