The Houston Texans are reportedly considering several Minnesota players for the 2027 NFL Draft, including lineman Greg Johnson, edge rusher Anthony Smith, and cornerback John Nestor. Scouts from the Texans, along with other team representatives, are anticipated to observe the Gophers' matchup against Eastern Illinois at Huntington Bank Stadium.

Greg Johnson, a 6-foot-6, 325-pound lineman, has received accolades for his versatility across multiple offensive line positions. He played all thirteen games for Minnesota and earned recognition as the team's top lineman. Analysts project him as a mid-round draft choice, with his adaptability potentially boosting his selection position. Given the Texans' offensive line challenges, Johnson could be a strategic target if he is available.

Anthony Smith, another standout from Minnesota, excelled last season, leading the conference with 12.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss. At 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds, he has the ideal physical attributes for an edge rusher. Smith has expressed his commitment to preparation and versatility, aiming to perform well on every play.

Cornerback John Nestor has also attracted attention for his leadership qualities and development, aligning with the Texans' team philosophy under head coach DeMeco Ryans. Nestor’s coach has highlighted his increasing confidence and ability to utilize support from teammates. The Texans are expected to keep a close eye on these prospects as they strategize for the draft.
