As the Texas Longhorns gear up for the 2026 football season, the left guard position is under careful consideration by head coach Steve Sarkisian and offensive line coach Kyle Flood. Laurence Seymore, a transfer from Western Kentucky, is currently the frontrunner, having participated in the first-team offensive line during the team's initial fall scrimmage.

In addition to Seymore, three other players are being evaluated for the role. Dylan Sikorski, who transferred from Oregon State, brings experience after starting six games at left guard last season. Jaydon Chatman is also in the mix, along with Cole Hutson, who has over 1,000 career offensive snaps at Texas, adding depth to the competition.

The coaching staff is not under pressure to make a decision before the season opener, allowing for ongoing assessments. Sarkisian has noted that successful offensive line play depends on more than individual talent; communication and chemistry are essential, particularly against opponents.

The evaluation process reflects Texas' depth and strategic planning as they prepare for the upcoming season, with the flexibility to adapt their strategy based on performance in games. This adaptability is crucial as the Longhorns aim for success in the championship race.
