The Houston Texans have signed wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to their practice squad, as reported by The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov on August 31. Tinsley, a 26-year-old at 6 feet 1 inch, previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, where he had eight receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns last season.
His move comes as the Bengals have a strong roster of wide receivers, leading to interest from several teams.
The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. remarked that Tinsley likely sees improved chances for playing time in Houston, particularly as the Texans have been looking to enhance their wide receiver depth this month. Tinsley joins Lewis Bond and Josh Kelly on the Texans' practice squad, according to Sleeper affiliate Jacob Barzilla.
Notably, he had a strong preseason in 2025, which earned him a spot on Cincinnati's roster.
Tinsley, who went undrafted, has made four starts in 19 regular-season games. He is known as a possession receiver with solid ball skills, though he may lack the speed for separation. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein commented that Tinsley is adept at making tough catches, especially in the middle of the field, despite some athletic limitations that might restrict him to a zone-beating role.
