The Dallas Cowboys completed their roster adjustments to meet the NFL's 53-player limit, resulting in several significant cuts. Among those released were running back Jaydon Blue, in his second year, and Sam Williams, a former second-round draft choice. The team also unexpectedly let go of quarterback Joe Milton III, who had performed well during the preseason.
In a strategic move, the Cowboys added running back Emari Demercado via waivers and brought in offensive tackle Wanya Morris. Many of the players who were waived have been retained on the practice squad, which now features a blend of veterans and rookies. This squad includes Israel Abanikanda (RB), Jordan Hudson (WR), Anthony Smith (WR), Michael Trigg (TE), and several others.
Notable performances during the preseason came from wide receiver Jordan Hudson, who impressed with his catches, and defensive tackle Tommy Dunn, recognized for his run defense. Linebacker Justin Barron, who transitioned from safety, excelled in coverage, while Curtis Robinson made significant contributions on special teams.
Some players who were cut have since signed with other teams. Julius Wood was picked up by the Miami Dolphins following a strong preseason, while Trevor Keegan joined the Minnesota Vikings. Sam Williams, who had 8.5 sacks in his first two seasons, is now with the Cleveland Browns after facing challenges in his recovery from ACL surgery.
Jaydon Blue, along with defensive backs Zion Childress and Trikweze Bridges, has signed with other NFL practice squads, marking a new chapter in their careers.
