Nimmo Dominates Offensively
Oakland’s hopes were derailed by a comprehensive offensive performance from Brandon Nimmo, who collected four hits and accounted for five runs batted in during the Texas Rangers’ 8-5 victory over the Athletics. Nimmo’s production was the primary catalyst for the home team, which secured its 69th win of the season while pushing the A's to a 53-86 record.
Nimmo’s impact began early and continued through the later innings. He opened the scoring in the first inning when his double to left field allowed Seager to score. He added another run in the third with a single to right that plated Seager again.
His most explosive contribution came in the fifth inning, where a single to right drove in both Pederson and Seager, extending the Rangers' lead. Nimmo completed his five-run night with an eighth-inning single that scored Langford.
Pitching Struggles for Oakland
The Athletics’ starting pitcher Brady Basso took the loss after allowing two earned runs on four hits over 2.1 innings. He was joined in the circle by Scott Blewett, who struggled with control, issuing two walks while striking out three batters over 1.7 innings but surrendering two earned runs. Luis Medina pitched one inning, giving up one earned run on two hits.
Jose Suarez faced immediate trouble in relief, allowing three earned runs on four hits in just 0.2 innings before being pulled. The Athletics’ bullpen effort was partially stabilized by Yunior Tur, who pitched 2.1 innings without allowing an earned run but did issue one walk while recording three strikeouts. Despite Tur’s scoreless outing, the damage inflicted by Suarez and the earlier starters proved insurmountable.
