Baylor Scott & White Health has selected Bonifacio "Ben" Benitez III to serve as the next president of McLane Children's Medical Center in Temple. His appointment becomes official on September 28, filling a vacancy created by the death of Dell Ingram-Walker in March.

Benitez arrives at Baylor Scott & White from CHRISTUS Children's in San Antonio, where he has worked as vice president of operations since 2018. In that role, he managed perioperative services, radiology, rehabilitation, laboratory, pharmacy, and respiratory therapy departments. He also handled physician contracting and rural business development during his time there.

Under his previous leadership at CHRISTUS Children's, the facility saw sustained growth in surgical procedures. The organization also expanded outpatient rehabilitation services into underserved neighborhoods and extended pediatric care to rural communities. Benitez will now oversee operational and clinical initiatives at McLane Children's, which serves as the only children's hospital in the region.

McLane Children's operates a Level IV neonatal intensive care unit for critically ill newborns and a verified Level II pediatric trauma center. The hospital aims to continue providing high-quality care to families across Central Texas under Benitez's direction.

Prior to his work at CHRISTUS, Benitez spent over ten years with Memorial Hermann in Houston. This included more than five years as a director of hospital operations at the Texas Medical Center campus, where he led surgical services and ambulatory operations.

Benitez holds a Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a Bachelor of Healthcare Administration from Texas State University. He is an alumnus of the Texas Hospital Association Executive Leadership Fellows Program and holds membership in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Baylor Scott & White Health is a major employer in College Station.
