A Late Surge Puts the Rangers Ahead

The Texas Rangers overcame an early deficit to defeat the Sacramento Athletics 5-3 on Sunday, August 16, at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento. The game featured two home runs, with the decisive blow coming from Langford in the sixth inning. The Rangers finished the day with a record of 61-63, while the Athletics fell to 48-75. Attendance at the venue was 10,070.

Bolte's Triple Threat Opens Scoring

The Athletics struck first in the second inning, taking a 3-0 lead. Bolte hit a three-run home run to left field, a shot that traveled 341 feet. Serven and Williams crossed the plate on the blast.

An umpire review was conducted on the play, and the original call on the field was overturned, allowing the runs to count. This gave the home team an early cushion before the visitors could respond.

Rangers Chip Away at the Lead

The Rangers began their comeback in the fifth inning. Lopez singled to center field, allowing Burger to score and narrow the gap to 3-1. In the sixth inning, Seager singled to center, bringing in Nimmo to make the score 3-2.

The momentum shifted decisively later in the sixth when Langford homered to left center. His 421-foot drive scored Seager, giving the Rangers a 4-3 lead. The offense continued to press in the ninth inning when Kelenic singled to center, scoring Carter and extending the lead to 5-3.

Pitching Performance

MacKenzie Gore earned the win for the Rangers. He pitched 5.2 innings, allowing eight hits and three earned runs while striking out five batters and walking two. Chase Silsetth pitched 0.1 hitless inning, Jakob Junis pitched one hitless inning, and Jacob Latz recorded the save with two hitless innings and two strikeouts.

For the Athletics, J.T. Ginn took the loss. He pitched six innings, allowing eight hits and four earned runs while striking out seven and walking none.

Brady Basso and Scott Blewett provided relief, combining for 3.0 innings, three hits, and one earned run.
