Von Miller has joined the Dallas Cowboys on a one-year contract, aiming to strengthen the team's defense. This move coincides with the Cowboys' overhaul, which includes around six new starters and a new defensive coordinator, Christian Parker. Miller, who notched nine sacks in 2025 while playing for the Washington Commanders, seeks to leverage his experience in Dallas.

Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer expressed confidence in Miller's skills, highlighting his sharp football intelligence and quick speed. Schottenheimer commented on Miller's understanding of the game, stating, "He understands the game; the football intellect is top tier," and noted his ability to navigate angles and utilize various moves effectively.

In the 2025 season, Miller appeared in 17 games with the Commanders, starting three and participating in 420 snaps, which represented 37 percent of the team's defensive plays. In Dallas, he is anticipated to fill a similar role, likely entering the game during key moments like third downs while other players manage earlier downs.

Miller's career accolades include being the second overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft from Texas A&M and winning the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award. He has also been honored as Super Bowl MVP and has won two Super Bowl championships, one with the Denver Broncos and another with the Los Angeles Rams.

Currently, he ranks first among active players with 138.5 career sacks and is tied with Cowboys icon DeMarcus Ware for 13th all-time, just 3.5 sacks away from breaking into the top 10.
