The Houston Texans will be without wide receiver Jaylin Noel for several weeks as he recovers from a hamstring injury. This marks the second injury setback for Noel during training camp, following a finger injury he sustained before the end of July.

The specifics of Noel's hamstring injury and his recovery timeline remain unclear. His absence is significant as the Texans attempt to fill the slot receiver position vacated by veteran Christian Kirk's move to the San Francisco 49ers.

Previously on the non-football injury (NFI) list, Noel had been expected to see increased targets and playing time this season after recording 26 receptions for nearly 300 yards and two touchdowns last year.

Currently, Xavier Hutchinson is positioned as the third wide receiver on the Texans' preseason depth chart, and Noel's injury may hinder his chances to advance until Noel is fully recovered. With the regular season approaching, Noel's injury could complicate his ability to integrate into the offense.

Despite this setback, the Texans' depth at the wide receiver position may help alleviate concerns regarding team performance. Players like Lewis Bond and Jared Wayne have been making strong impressions, and Tank Dell's return adds further options. The absence of Noel will provide additional opportunities for these players during the preseason, allowing the team to maintain momentum until Noel's return.

Once healthy, he is expected to play a crucial role as the slot receiver as the season progresses.
